Museo municipal de Ponteareas
Calle A PerillanaPonteareas (San Miguel)36860 PonteareasPontevedra
The Municipal Museum of Ponteareas houses a large collection of archaeological objects found on archaeological excavations in the hillfort settlement of Castro de Troña. It is organised into different sections.
One part of the museum explores the prehistoric period in Ponteareas and the rest of the region, with pieces ranging from the Palaeolithic to the process of Romanisation. This is where most of the materials from Castro de Troña, of Gallaecian-Roman culture, are displayed, as well as a petroglyph from Chan de Gándara and a small collection of bronze items from Coto de Altamira. It also has a robed figure from Taboexa (As Neves).
Another part of the museum details the development of the region from the Middle Ages to cotemporary times. It ranges from the jurisdiction of Sobroso to the current division into municipalities. Two illustrious sons of the municipality are highlighted: Gabino Bugallal Araújo and Fermín Bouza Brey, from the Modern and Contemporary periods.
There is also a collection of works from local artists such as Silverio Rivas, Antonio Medal Carrera, Rogelio Lorenzo Rodríguez, Ignacio Vidales Tomé and Juan Soutullo.
Lastly, there is a space dedicated to the Feast of Corpus Christi in Ponteareas, which represents the unique collective identity of the town and exhibits elements from the festival and its artistic displays.
