Castillo de A Concepción
Goián (San Cristovo)36750 TomiñoPontevedra
The Fortress of La Concepción is part of the border system of Goián (Galicia) - Vilanova de Cerveira (Portugal, beside the Miño River). On the Galician side it is composed of the Fortresses of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, As Chagas, A Barca and San Lourenzo; the Towers of Os Correa and Os Ratos in Goián; and the Fortress of Santiago Carrillo de Medos in Estás. On the Portuguese riverbank, it is formed by the fortress square and medieval complex of Vilanova de Cerveira, the Watchtower of Espíritu Santo and the Fortress of Lovelhe. It is an even system that puts face to face the people from the two countries. Currently, its original layout has been distorted by various buildings and roads built where the fortification’s land once was. It is full of pines and eucalyptus, as well as native species such as oaks, bushes, brooms and ferns, vines, fruit trees and orchards
