Casa del Agua
Antigua Casa Rectoral de Santa María de VideVide (Santa María)36446 As NevesPontevedra
This former rectory, which was restored in 2000, is located next to the parish church of Santa María de Vide. Both buildings are related to the Templars, as a Knights Templar Star on the outside of a church wall can attest.
Visitors are invited to explore a permanent exhibition about the irrigation community of the area and the pesqueiras or pescos. The community is more than 100 years old and was unique in Galicia, as it was registered in the Spanish National Federation of Irrigation Communities. It also used a Roman irrigation channel measuring more than 6 km. The pesqueiras are stone structures arranged in parallel to create artificial currents and easily catch lamprey, one of the most cherished fish species of the Minho River.
