The A Illa de Arousa Bridge is the only road access to the town of A Illa de Arousa. Construction works began in 1983 and finished in 1985. It opened in September of that same year. At the time, this engineering work represented one of the longest bridges in Europe. It is still one of the longest bridges, with just two expansion joints

Description of equipment and other services The bridge is equipped with a bicycle lane, pedestrian walkway and access for motorised vehicles. In all three cases there is a lane in each direction. Furthermore, pedestrian access has been adapted for those persons that require a wheelchair. At the start of the bridge, at the entrance of A Illa de Arousa, there is free-of-charge parking, a seasonal beach bar, a children's park, a blue trail and a blue flag beachFeatures
