Semana Santa de Cangas
Holy Week in Cangas is one of the most complete and spectacular of those celebrated in Galicia due to its fervour, realism and seafaring origin. It has a great historic-artistic value, particularly due to the Nazarene statue and the Descent Ceremony, both of which resonate for their emotional realism.

Origin and history It was first held in 1857. Itineraries and main events during its celebration The festivities start on Friday of Sorrows with the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing of palm branches and a procession to the church with a statue of Jesus sitting on a donkey.
Holy Wednesday has the procession of Our Lady of Solitude to the sound of drums played by the confraternity. On Maundy Thursday there is a procession representing the Last Supper with natural products in the afternoon.
The next day is the most important and starts with a procession about the Denial of Saint Peter, another one in the town centre at noon and the Descent Ceremony in the afternoon, in which Christ is taken down from the cross and laid in a glass coffin at night.
